Learning parts of speech is the first and very important step in grammar study. There are eight parts of speech:

1) Nouns:- A noun is a word used to name a person, animal, place, thing, and abstract idea.
Examples: box, car, tree, cycle, Jack, Ann.

2) Verbs:- A verb expresses action, event, or state of being.
Examples: talk, run, walk, think, eat.

3) Adjectives:-An adjective modifies a noun by describing, identifying, or quantifying words.
Examples: beautiful, amazing, tall, thin.

4) Adverbs:- An adverb describes a verb.
Eamples:quickly, patiently, boldly, yesterday.

5) Pronouns:- pronoun is used instead of a noun, to avoid repeating the noun.
Examples:- I, you, he, she, it, they.

6) Conjunctions:-A conjunction joins two words, phrases, clauses.
Examples:- and, or, so, because.

7) Prepositions:- A preposition links nouns, pronouns and phrases to other words in a sentence.
Examples:- On, in, along, without.

8) Interjections:- An interjection is a word to convey emotion.
Examples:- Ouch, Oh no, hey, hurray.
