Magnesium - Anxiety, Nervousness, Stress
September 8th, 2007 by postmaster
Magnesium deficiency has been linked to anxiety, sensitive to noise, nervousness, fear, insomnia, confusion, cramps, fatigue.Magnesium can be depleted from the body due to Mental stress, coffee, sugar, high sodium diet, alcohol, cola-type sodas, tobacco, high perspiration.
Magnesium is a trace mineral that helps relax muscles. It has a sedative effect on the nervous system.Magnesium supplements have been shown to have a calming effect on symptoms of anxiety and stress levels.
You can find the supplements in your local supermarkets/ vitamin stores. They come in various forms.. a few that I am aware of are magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate tablets/ capsules. You can also find it as a liquid in combination with calcium and vitamin D. I prefer magnesium citrate as it is easily absorbed.
The next time you go to a super market for a back pain medicine..take a look at the ingredients of the Doans Extra Strength Pain Reliever tablets.. its MAGNESIUM.
Natural sources of Magnesium:-
(a) Pumpkin Seeds , almonds
(b) Spinach
(c) Black eye peas , Lima beans
(d) Whole Grains
Next time you feel a little confused or anxious have some almonds or pumpkin seeds.. it might help you.
