Navratri (Indian festival)

Navratri - devoted to the worship of Goddess Durga also known as Ma Durga ( Ma means mother) or Goddess Shakti ( Shakti means strength) is celebrated with great devotion by Hindus in India and all over the world.Navaratri means nine nights in Sanskrit- Nava means Nine and Ratri means nights. Hindus believe that Goddess Durga protects her devotees from the evils of the world and at the same time removes their miseries.
The day after Navratri - the 10th day is Dussera which celebrates the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana.
