Human Heart - the size of your fist is a powerful muscle. It circulates blood throughout the body. Blood supplies oxygen and other nutirents to cells.
Heart has 4 chambers, top two are called left atrium and right atrium and bottom two are called left ventricle and right ventricle. The right atrium receives oxygen depleted blood from the body and it pumps it to the right ventricle which inturn pumps the poor oxygen blood to the lungs. The left atrium receives the oxygen rich blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle which then pumps the blood to the rest of the body.
Before every beat the heart is filled with blood ( oxygen rich) and then the muscle contracts pumping blood to the body. The average heart beat is 72 times per minute.
